Certified environmental management
The efficient use of resources coupled with modern systems is a basic requirement for careful use of the environment. The EMAS certification, also known as the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, monitors and confirms this at regular intervals.
HIPPOLD places a high value on its certified environmental management system and the establishment of sustainable processes. The efficient use of resources is complemented by various measures, such as our photovoltaic system. With this system, we are able to cover almost 50% of our electricity demand. Additionally, we collect surface water in cisterns, which is used as process water in our electroplating facility, preserving the groundwater level. Another example is the waste heat from our zinc die-casting production. This is utilized through a heat exchanger to support building heating, reducing its energy consumption by 200,000 kWh per year.
The implemented measures have allowed us to reduce our CO2 emissions by 48% between 2018 and 2023. Currently, we are step by step determining the CO2 footprint of our production areas, so that in the future, we can demonstrate a carbon footprint for each product. Another objective is to produce climate-neutral by 2030!
